Busy, I haven’t touched my laptop since arriving here. Everyday, I went for different activities, like orientation, student pass, school tour. Besides these, I traveled around Singapore, like shopping mall, Chinatown, library, marina bay. At night, I went to clementi st (后街) for supper, play card games. And today, I met people on wechat and we played ping pong. After a week, I finally can settle down here, like knowing where to wash clothes (it’s nice to that it’s free to wash clothes), filling hot water, and know where to eat lunch. In NUS, local students speak Singlish, which sounds like Indian English, very slow. Now I know that American English sounds good and easy to understand. Even though in NUS, there are students are crazy, playing and drinking alcohol in the mid-night. Maybe every college has this kind of people, they play hard and study hard. Last few days, I went to the national library and saw that there were a lot of people studied queitly, all tables were full, and now it is summer time. In the second week, I went to the “city tour” hosted by International Relations Office and to the Universal Studio.
Here, most people can speak Mandarin, and the adult people, their accent sounds like Taiwanese Mandarin. But still, so far I haven’t hang out with the local students, but the international students and exchange students.
